If you have prom, an event, or want to take some photos with a friend here are some helpful tips!
1. Adding some shape to your face for pictures is very important so you do not look flat. For this I recommend contouring. Try to avoid contouring with any orange tone bronzer so you don't look muddy; a matte grey tone would look most natural. For an even contour go across your hairline, a little on your temples. under your cheek bones, and under your jaw bone. I recently got the Sephora Contouring 101 Face Palette; it includes 3 shades of contour powder and 3 highlighting powders.
2. Skip a shimmer highlight for pictures, or just make sure it is not very powerful. If it is you will end up with a white strip on your face in pictures where the highlighter was. To highlight in pictures use matte brightening shades. Use a yellow tone powder to brighten the under eyes and a cream color for the high points of your face and under your contour. The same Sephora palette has 2 great highlight powders.
3. Brows are a key feature on your face and also frame your face; that's why its important to tame and fill in your brows for pictures. For a natural but still defined look, use a brow powder and a setting gel. I use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder.
4. To make your lash line appear thicker (in person and in pictures) apply a black eyeliner to your tight line. A tight line is the strip of skin under where your eyelashes grow. Also to brighten and open your eyes, apply a nude eyeliner into your waterline. Your waterline is the strip of skin before where your bottom eyelashes grow.
5. Be sure to add some blush onto the apples of your cheeks. Do this to add color into your face just in case the photo washes you out.
6. If you are using flash photography, be sure to skip spf in your foundation so you do not get flash back.
Hope these tips were helpful!
