Ipsy Unboxing

Last weekend I received my February Ipsy bag in the mail! If you don't know, Ipsy is a monthly subscription service that delivers 5 sample size products for 10$ a month. This is my 2nd box to get, and so far I really like it. It is always so exciting waiting for a treat in the mail.
The bag comes in a pink package, so you know exactly what it is when it comes!
The actual bag inside changes every month. This February, for Valentines Day, it is pink. These bags are quite good quality and are very useful when it comes to traveling.
The first product is the Eva-Nye Up All Night Volumizing Spray. This adds volume, texture, and added heat protection. You put it in your hair wet or dry and before or after blowdrying. I used it with dry hair, and it added volume. I think it would preform better when put in wet hair and blowdried. This 1 oz product is $10.
The next product is the Model Co. Blush Cheek Powder in Cosmopolitan. This blush is highly pigmented and has a smooth, finely milled powder formula. It is a beautiful peachy-pink color that would be perfect for pale skin tones. This product retails for $22.
Another thing is the Emite Eyelash Curlers. They feel like pretty good quality, and I was in need of a new eyelash curler. This also came with three rubber padding replacements. This is actually a Swedish brand that is fairly high end. This tool retails for $23.
Next is the City Color Creamy Lip Stain in the color Flirtini. I tried this on and was disappointed. It is very pigmented and a beautiful color, but it turns into a powder formula when it drys, which is something you don't want on your lips. It also smells horrible! It is only $4, which could explain the few flaws.
The last product is the Mitchell and Peach Fine Radiance Face Oil. I used this on the back of my hand, and it absorbed fast and made my skin feel very soft. This is a 10ml product and a full size is 20ml for $46.
I hope you enjoyed a look into my Ipsy bag this weekend!

Acne V.S Blemish Coverup

Most teenagers, unless you're lucky, have some type of blemish/acne spots. Today I will be talking about ways to cover up different types of spots.

Let's start with acne. If you have acne, the first thing I recommend would be to go to the dermatologist. I have been seeing a dermatologist since I was three! This is by far the most important step. The derm will give suggestions on the type of face wash to use as well as prescription treatment. Of course after going to the derm, your acne won't go away immediately. So in the meantime, you have to find the type of coverage you need. If you can, I would recommend just covering the spots with concealer; but some people have worse ace than that. (I know I occasionally get really bad acne!) In this case, I would use a foundation, preferably high end. I've never found a drugstore face makeup I like; in my opinion, I have yet to find one with good coverage and ingredients. If you have a favorite brand, I would go to their counter and test out different foundations and coverages. The brands I would recommend are, Tarte, Bobbi Brown, and Gorgio Armani. To apply foundation onto acne covered skin, use a makeup brush for hygienic purposes. Smaller tightly packed bristles will give a heavier coverage, and they are best for acne prone skin. To make sure your coverage lasts all day, use a setting powder and setting spray.

Now moving on to covering up blemishes. Only having blemishes means you have small/big spots in a couple areas (rather than all over). With single blemishes I would try to spot conceal or cover them with a light coverage BB cream or timed moisturizer. There is no reason for a foundation if you do not need it. The brand for concealer I would recommend is Nars, and for BB cream, Bobbi Brown. To apply the BB cream use your fingers or a standard foundation brush. If you really want to sheer out the coverage use a brush with very long bristles that is more fluffy. To apply concealer, use a very small bush and pat the product on. Rubbing the product will make it disappear. Lightly blend out the edges of the concealer around the spot. Finish with a dusting of loose powder.

I hope you enjoyed this post! (please note these are just my thoughts, they may be different from others!)
