Everything You Need To Know About Beauty Blenders

Beauty Blenders are makeup sponges that are very different from the disposable ones. They are made from a special exclusive material that works best when damp. It gives a streak free application because there's no edge on the blender like on a regular sponge. The beauty blender also minimizes product waste because, when the sponge is wet, the molecules leave no room for it to absorb into the sponge. The blender is in an egg shape, so you can get into smaller areas as well as bigger.

There are a couple different types of beauty blenders.  The original is for foundation, powder, cream blush/bronzer, and BB/CC creams. The pure sponge is for eye creams, face cleansers, primers, and serums. The pro sponge is used for long wearing makeup and self tanner. The last kind is the micro.mini for concealer, highlighter, and contouring. All of these sponges can be used with all types of products. It seems odd to have powder on a damp sponge but it applies it evenly and the water in the sponge helps the powder look natural against the skin.

The best way I've found to use my beauty blender is to submerge it in water then squeeze all the water out (it will still be damp and expand). With liquid products I apply them to my face first then bounce/dab the sponge over my face to spread the product and blend it. With cream products I dab the sponge in the product and then use the sponge the same way as the brush (but being sure not to drag the sponge because that doesn't give a real skin look). For powders I place the sponge in the products and roll the bigger end over my face. All of my ways of application give a light coverage but can be built up. One other way I use my sponge is, once all my makeup is done, I dab and roll it over my face to make the powders look like real skin rather than a caky powdery look.

You should clean your beauty blender after a week or so and replace it, at the latest, in 2 months. There are a few ways to clean it. First using some olive oil and baby shampoo to massage the product out of the sponge. The brand also sells cleansers that wok really well, like the liquid and the solid cleanser.

Hopefully my insight on the beauty blender helped! I recommend it to everyone!

One Brand Review: Charlotte Tilbury

I'm in love with every product from Charlotte Tilbury I have gotten! I only have three, but I get so much use out of them. In the US they are sold at certain Nordstrom's and online.

The first one is a very popular product, the Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk. These lip pencils are very smooth and perfect for reshaping and filling in lips. The formula is very pigmented and long lasting. The product does not smudge, giving it a precise line for re-shaping and lasting power. Pillow Talk is a nude rose color, very similar to a lot of people's natural lip color. It pairs with almost every lipstick. The lip pencil does not need to match the lipstick; it's almost better if the lip pencil matches your lip color. This is because it gives a more natural re-shaped look while giving the long lasting power. If you're interested in lip pencils, I totally recommend this one!

The next product is one I use every day! The Retoucher is a concealer and spot treat stick. It has a brush that contains the product in the middle making it easy to use this product on the go to touch up your makeup. This product is not meant to be a normal concealer in that it is not overly pigmented and is used mainly for highlighting and using over something that is more pigmented. Because I don't have bad under eye circles, I use this every day in a triangle under my eye (the triangle brings more light in that area of your face) down the bridge of my nose, three short stripes from in-between my eyebrows to my forehead, and on my chin. All the places I place this product are high places on my face that when highlighted bring a brightness to my face. The retoucher looks most natural when blended in with a damp sponge or buffed into the face (buffing is using a smaller brush in circle motions to work the product into the face). This product is so handy and will not be leaving my makeup bag!

Last is a fairly new product for Charlotte Tilbury. The Eyes to Mesmerise in Marie Antoinette is a mouse eyeshadow. I say mouse because it is not a normal cream eyeshadow; it has a much more whipped texture. This texture is perfect for getting sheer to maximum pigment and an easy smooth application. The eyeshadow can be used with fingers or a brush - they both give the amount of the pigment you would prefer. The sheerer the application the more glossy/wet it looks. It also sets very quickly and does not crease. Marie Antoinette is a soft bronze color with an antique gold shimmer running through it. The color is hard to explain, but is so beautiful. I would recommend going and feeling the formula and looking at the colors. I am in love with the texture of this product and how it glides on and moisturizes the eyelid.

Hope you enjoyed these quick reviews of my Charlotte Tilbury products! I love every one of them and recommend them to everyone!
