What's In My Shopping Bag

Instead of doing a haul or review this week, I thought I would show you some of the products I have decided to add into my shopping cart.

First is the Cover Fx Custom Cover Drops. This is a fairly new product that has a very clever idea behind it. From some research I know that you mix as many desired drops of the foundation into a lotion or primer and apply. This lets you achieve your desired amount of coverage. There are mostly good reviews along with some negative ones talking about how it becomes cakey. I am very interested in trying this product to see if the idea is as good as the product. Sephora: Custom Cover Drops

Next is the Bite Beauty Watercolor Lip Gloss Library. I have only tried the lipsticks from Bite but I was very impressed. This set includes 12 pastel colored lip glosses in a sheer but luminous finish. The unique colors caught my eye, especially the mint green and yellow. There are very mixed reviews on this product. Some complained about the pigmentation, the dryness, and stickiness. The positive reviews were about the beautiful colors and the great value of the set. I am very interested to see which side of the reviews I fall on. Sephora: Watercolor Lip Gloss Library
The last product I have been interested in is the Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Eye Crayon. These come in 25 different colors that range from regular browns to turquoises and golds. The concept of a gel in a pencil form is fairly new. It offers blend-ability while staying waterproof. I have never tried a product from Marc Jacobs and I think a very usable product, like an eyeliner, would be great to try out. Sephora: Highliner Gel Eye Crayon

Hope you enjoyed a look into my shopping basket!

Update Your Summer Makeup

Now that finals are finally over it's time for summer! These are some of my suggestions on how to update your summer look.

First to achieve a bronzed/tanned look you will need some bronzer. For a more tanned look, a light to no shimmer bronzer will work perfectly. Apply it to the high points of your face (nose, chin, top of apples of cheek, and don't forget your neck) as well as in "a three" around your face for some definition (start at your temples and trace the brush under your cheek bones and under your jaw bone, this creates a "3" shape).  Blend it all out with a fluffy brush to soften the edges. My favorite bronzer for this is the Bourjois Bronzing powder. (this is a UK product, and you can order it on amazon) It is a warm brown, but not orange, with a hint of golden shimmer that is not very noticeable on the face. For a more bronzed glowing look use a shimmery bronzer in the same way as above. Be sure to blend the shimmer out a lot because shimmer can tend to look unnatural. A drugstore option for this is the Pixi Beauty Bronze in Summertime, and a high end option is the Tarte Park ave Princess Amazonian Clay Bronzer. They are both very similar but the Tarte one has more of a golden undertone.

The summer is the perfect time to add some color into your makeup. You can do this with a subtle eyeshadow, a colored eyeliner in the waterline or as a gel liner on the lash line. I recently got the limited edition Nars Christopher Kane Eyeshadow Duo in Parallel Universe. It comes with two beautiful  iridescent glitter eyeshadows, one lilac and one champagne. I think this palette is the perfect way to add some color to your eyes. The purple is not too bright and the iridescent finish helps to "dull" out the color. If color intimidates you, but you still want to try it out, I would recommend this duo.

Hope you enjoyed my summer tips!
